MOLHOL® CB is an organic compound also known as Chlorobutanol with the molecular formula C₄H₇Cl₃O. It occurs as a white or almost white, crystalline powder or colourless crystals, sublimes readily. Chlorobutanol is used in pharmaceutical formulations as an antimicrobial preservative, particularly in certain ophthalmic preparations, to help limit microbial growth.

1 Description It occurs as colorless to white crystals, having a characteristic, somewhat camphoraceous, odor and taste.

3 Solubility It is freely soluble in alcohol, in ether, in chloroform, and in volatile oils; soluble in glycerin; slightly soluble in water.

5 Water determination Not more than 1.0%.
6 Assay Not less than 98.0% and not more than100.5% of chlorobutanol C4H7Cl3O, calculated on the anhydrous basis.

MOLHOL® CB is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside and is provided with a barcoded label and a tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in tight containers.
